New 24-hour pathway for oncology emergencies

A new emergency pathway ensures that patients with febrile neutropenia, spinal cord compression or other treatment-related emergencies are identified at triage and reviewed by the oncology team without unnecessary delay.

Dr Amelia Hart, Consultant in Emergency Medicine, noted that the pathway was designed with patients and specialist nurses so that communication remains clear even at night and weekends.
